CAPE CANAVERAL: Kapal angkasa pertama Israel yang direka untuk mendarat di bulan dijangka berlepas dari Florida, esok dalam misi bulan pertama yang ditaja pihak persendirian, ketika negara Yahudi itu mahu menjadi negara keempat sampai ke bulan.
Jentera perayau robotik itu dinamakan sebagai ‘Beresheet’ dalam bahawa Hebrew bermaksud permulaan / beginning, ia akan berlepas dari Stesen Udara Cape Canaveral pada jam 8.45 malam waktu tempatan menggunakan roket Falcon 9 buatan syarikat Space X.
Satelit seberat 585 kilogram itu mempunyai saiz seperti mesin basuh, yang mana ia dibina syarikat usaha sama bukan keuntungan Israel dan kontraktor pertahanan kerajaan Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) dengan keseluruhan kos sebanyak AS$100 juta (RM407.13 juta). Kesemua kos tersebut disumbang penderma persendirian yang tidak didedahkan identiti.
Jika pelancaran itu berjaya, Beresheet dijangka tiba di bulan pada April depan, selepas perjalanan dua bulan menerusi jarak 6.5 juta kilometer.
Setakat ini, hanya Amerika Syarikat (AS), Kesatuan Soviet dan China sahaja pernah berjaya melakukan pendaratan pesawat di permukaan bulan. – Reuters
PERANAN ROBOTIK DI BULAN
Sekiranya peranti tersebut berjaya didaratkan di bulan, waktu tugasan angkasawan akan lebih singkat. Hal ini kerana hanya 2 hari masa diperlukan untuk proses penghasilan imej & visual dan seterusnya menghantar ke bumi.
Selain itu, pasukan tersebut dijangka untuk mengkaji medan magnet bulan menggunakan magnometer. Sekiranya semua berjalan dengan baik, peranti tersebut akan seterusnya dilancarkan ke titik permukaan lain dan akan demonstrate bahawa ia mampu menerokai bulan

On Thursday evening, SpaceX is scheduled to launch another Falcon 9 rocket from Florida, but this time, the vehicle will be carrying a payload it’s never transported before: a spacecraft bound for the Moon. One of the three payloads on the rocket is an Israeli-made lander that will travel through space over the next two months and then try to land on the lunar surface. If the touchdown is a success, it’ll be the first time that a vehicle made with mostly private money has ever landed on the Moon or any other planetary body.
